BACKYARD BRAWL

42 Teams… 2 Days of Competition… Let the “Brawl” begin…

Dear Coaches:

As we all prepare to enter the heart of our current basketball seasons, I would ask that you remove yourself for just a moment and look ahead to the coming June, when Christiansburg Boy’s Basketball Program will be hosting the 3^rd Annual Backyard Brawl in Christiansburg, Va.   We are currently trying to get a jump start on this highly touted and very dynamic event, to ensure another well organized and competitive team camp for you and your players.  If you attended the camp in 2007, you were able to join in one of the best team camps in the state of Virginia.   We understand that last year went well, but we have re-evaluated the team camp this year and look to make it even better.  We hope you will choose to be part of the excitement!!!

 Improvements for 2008 Backyard Brawl:

 -          This year, we will only be using the Christiansburg Recreation Center (4 courts) and the Christiansburg High School Gym (1 court) to host all games for the two day event.  This will cut down on travel and allow you and your team to not feel as rushed, stressed, or pulled in your travel from game to game.

 -          We will schedule a 1 ½ hour lunch break for each team, so you will have time to grab a good lunch and get re-energized for your afternoon games.

 -          Each team will get a total of 5 GAMES this year – 2 on Friday and 3 on Saturday

 -          We will have a “Hospitality Room” for coaches and referees where there will be food and drink available for you to relax and enjoy the company of other coaches.

 -          We will have a “TEAM DINNER” on Friday night at a local church where your players and coaches can eat for FREE!!!!!

 -          We will have a “Silent Auction” for items that coaches, parents, players, and spectators can put bids in for purchase.

 -          We will again give away the Jared Lane Sportsmanship Award for the team that best displays true sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

 -          We will be adding a 3 point shooting contest to the Backyard Brawl Team Camp.

 -          We will develop a program with information on each team (athlete bios, coach bios, and team bios) to be sold and distributed to local college coaches.

The only question now is…. How could you or your team miss this team camp???

Details about The “Brawl”:

 COST:

-          The total cost will be $160.00 per team for the 2-day camp

-          Checks can be made payable to: Blue Demon Basketball Boosters

 DATE:

-          The event will take place on Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28.

LODGING:

-          We will be working with 1-2 hotels to help secure some rooms at great rates for you and your players.

 NUMBER OF GAMES:

-          Each team will be guaranteed five games throughout the two day tournament.  Each team will get two games on Friday and three games on Saturday.

 TEAMS:

-          There will be 18 teams from Virginia and 18 teams from West Virginia to make up the Backyard Brawl for 2008.

-          There will be teams that range from AAA classification to A classification in both states of Virginia and West Virginia.

 TRAVEL FOR GAMES:

-          Both gyms are separated by no more than ½ mile.
